If you get a little complacent with your surroundings, just get up the next morning and drive north for 13 hours. You will get to a place where your wardrobe is not in style. They will speak your language but it will be hard to understand. You will start to realize how people live differently. First sign of a little homesickness.  Wilson and hIs daughter Emmy and myself just took that little trip from Christoval to Vail, Colorado. When we left Texas it was 103 degrees and when we got to the Colorado mountains we could see snow on some of the mountain tops and it was 52 degrees at 2pm. We made the trip to Claggett-Rey Gallery and the art show “Cowboys North and South” inspired by the book by the same name by Will James. Most refreshing to experience the changes of lifestyle, people, art, temperature, and terrain.  We went from Chihuahuan Desert to Snow skiing Resort. I had already forgotten what a mesquite bush looks like.  I was a little nervous about being a Texan in a Colorado Ski Resort. I had heard it said that if God had wanted Texans to Ski he would have given them a mountain with snow. I was a little quite and most reserved, but everywhere we went the people were most polite and very enjoyable. I never felt uncomfortable in my black hat.  The art show was super, filled with people from many different places enjoying the ski resort and the art show.  I met several artist that I didn’t know and enjoyed meeting lots of people interested in the art.

I hope Bill and Maggie Rey have many more Western Art Shows with similar motifs.   I would love to take a trip to Claggett-Rey every summer to cool off…..not sure if I could survive a show in the snowy season.
