Ed’s new book is out and ready for orders.  Give me a couple weeks to get the orders completed and shipped. Might make some nice Christmas gifts.

This is Ed’s first fiction story and I recommend it to everyone who likes a good tale.  It reads like a true story and I told Ed that this is a little close to the real deal.  The story takes place in Northern Arizona some 40 odd years ago.  Lots of memories of the days of Route 66 and Seligman AZ area. Good memories of young cowboys working on good cow outfits, with some spicy human interest descriptions.

I am accepting orders via email, text messages, phone calls, or snail mail.   Each book is signed by author and myself. I will do an original remark on each book and be glad to do a special gift salutation to someone special that you so designate.

The new book is paper back and I will ship with no S&H expense for $50 each.

Happy Reading

When Jackets Get Heavy

By Mike Capron
Another Spring Brandin’ under way. A little jump start on this cool morning. This cowboy decided to get his jacket and put it on, but “Champ” was looking for an excuse to get mad and the jacket was all he needed. Looks like this cowboy doesn’t consider it necessary to ask anybody’s permission to put his jacket on. I think he is fixin’ to wear it and make this pony like it.

This drawing is 25×15 and a pen and ink. You can own it now for $5600 plus S&H . It is framed and ready to hang.

The Sierry Petes

                                                                The Sierry Petes

                                                                      ( in Part )

                                                                 By Gail Gardner

Sez Sandy Bob,”Old Devil be damned,

                                                            We Boys is kinda tight,

But you ain’t a-goin’ to gather no cowboy souls,

“Thout you has some kind of a fight.”

So Sandy Bob punched a hole in his rope,

And he swang her straight and true,

He lapped it on to the Devils horns,

And he taken his dallies too.

Now Buster Jig was a riata man,

With his gut-line coiled up neat,

So he shaken her out an’ he built him a loop,

An’ he passed the Devil’s hind feet .

This is only part of Gail’s Poem, I recommend reading all of the Poem, It is my favorite Cowboy Poem.

George Phippen has done some beautiful art work depicting this poem. He did a bronze of the devil which is one of my all time favorite sculptures. He has done several pen and ink drawings of this same subject and he did an oil painting of the same scene. I love them all. I don’t normally try to do something that someone else has already done, but this one is too good and a true cowboy classic. So I did the pen and ink and I will probably do the oil painting also. Just to much history and cowboy fun!!!

I have this pen and ink for sale, it is 17×24 framed and ready to hang for $6100 plus S&H.    It is a fine example of how to handle the devil when he shows up !!!

I appreciate the comments and enjoyment, any one interested can contact me at the info below.

No Fence To Tangle Up In

Well this was a project for the books. Never sure why paintings get done at all. They don’t have much to do with the physical needs of daily living. But they do continue to be created for some spiritual fantasy. This Painting “No Fence To Tangle Up In” is not a fantasy in the actual cowboy world, but it doesn’t happen much anymore. Lots of reasons, but for the hardcore Cowdogs it is still the best way. I am not a complete”hasbeen” but if I ever get to that point, I can always say, ” This is the way we used to do it Kids.”

I have this hanging over my drawing table and it is an inspiration for me in my future paintings. It’s all about men who ride for a living. Never fearing sweat, dirt, long hours, short pay,and plenty of peril.  I love it. It has a good home on this wall.  But it is like a good horse, lots of people like good horses, but they don’t come cheap. Takes time to make a good horse and there is more than paintin’ time in this painting. It is a big one and will need a big wall, it is 32×64 inches. I might deliver and hang it also.  $30,000

 Travis and His Paint

Here is a little Bargain Basement Deal. !!!  Hard to understand why a person would spend good hard earned money on a piece of art, maybe even harder for a man to paint something and think for a minute that somebody would spend his hard earned money on such as this.

I sure don’t spend time trying to figure out those kind of things, I just paint. Been doing it and plan to keep it up as long as the good Lord is willing.  This is my latest endeavors and I have it hanging in Sheffield Texas for sale.  I like it on my wall and it will be there until someone with $10,000 comes along and trades me out of it.  It is a 22×30 and framed as you see it.

I will be glad to ship it free of charge and might even consider delivering and hanging it also.  Please feel free to comment and share the joy of the story.  There is a good story behind this painting. I have had it hanging for just a couple of days and several people have told me their Paint stories . I have a couple myself .
